Tulane has standardized on Dell Latitude, Optiplex, and Precision computer models to meet most of its Windows-based computing needs. Computer standardization ensures compatibility with university infrastructure and security practices, minimizes university costs, and facilitates an effective support system.

Standard Configuration Computers
Listed on the Dell Premier page are several Standard Configuration computers. Tulane IT recommends these Standard Configuration models for compatibility and best value.
There are two types of standard configurations:
- TU*SET configurations that must be accepted AS IS. No changes can be made to the set configurations. Selecting "Customize & Buy" shows configuration details but they cannot be changed.
- TU*FLEX configurations include user selectable options. Select "Customize & Buy" to see configuration details and selectable options. If configuration item is not slectable, it cannot be changed.

Laptops:
- TU*SET Light Standard-Latitude 3420 - For light office work and general online access
- TU*SET Departmental Standard-Latitude 7430 - For office productivity and most other university applications
- TU*FLEX Latitude 7430 Flexible Configuration - Configurable laptop for most university applications (RAM: 256GB/512GB)
- TU*SET Data Intensive-Precision 3561 - Optimized for data science and analytics
- TU*SET Graphics Intensive-Precision 7670 - Optimized for graphics and video content creation
Desktops:
- TU*SET Classroom Standard-Optiplex 7000 - Tulane classroom standard
Custom Computer Configurations
You may also configure a custom computer via the Dell Premiere by selecting "Shop" at the top of the page. Custom configurations must still follow the requirements of the Tulane Computer Purchase Policy.
