Full policy: Institutional Computer Purchases at Tulane
Policy Summary:
For compatibility with Tulane systems, services and security, the university has standardized on certain desktop/laptop computer manufactuers and models. All university computer purchases must follow these standards:
- Authorized computer models are:
- Dell - Optiplex, Latitude, and Precision (Alienware, XPS, Chromebook, Inspiron, Vostro not compatible)
- Apple - all models
- MicroSoft - MS Surface Pro
- Full three-year warranty, w/accidental damage insurance for laptops
- Enterprise OS (Windows Home edition not compatible)
- New computers only (used or refurbished computers not allowed)
Additionally, all Dell computes must be configured with Windows AutoPilot.
Computer sourcing:
- Must purchase Dell computers through the eProcurement Dell punch out catalog.
- Must purchase Apple computers from the Tulane Technology Connection.
- Recommend purchasing MicroSoft Surface computers from the Tulane Technology Connection or from the eProcurement CDW-G punch out catalog.
